At Home with Ranchero Cellars

February 27, 2010 matt 4 Comments

Ranchero Cellars.  Heard of it?  If you haven’t heard of this wine, you’re missing out and you’ll be hearing a lot about it in the near future.  If you have heard of Ranchero Cellars, you very well just might love it, like we do!  This was a Rhone White blend, 65% Grenache Blanc, 35% Roussanne, called Chrome.  The winemaker for Ranchero Cellars is Amy Butler, yup, the same lady that makes the great wine over at Edward Sellers.  We’ve become good friends with Amy and have had the privilege of sharing a few, okay several glasses of wine with her over the past few years.  This girl knows her wine and better yet, how to make it!

You gotta try this stuff….

Love white wine blends. Love roussane. I’ll need to look for this at my local Vegas wineshop. Or for order on the web? Have you ever tried Blancaneaux from Rubicion Estate? I used to work there, it’s only available at the winery. Blend of Marsanne, Roussane and Viogner. Delicious but it seems to be very delicate from vintage to vintage. Perhaps these are delicate grapes and tricky to manage just so in the vineyards? A bit inconsistent with how great it can be. But boy when it’s on…it is on! Will definitely look for this Ranchero Cellars.

We’ve heard of Rubicon Estates…but not that blend. Maybe we’ll hunt that down! You may be able to get the Chrome via the web….let me know if you’d like us to find you a source. We really love the White Rhone blends, too! Great stuff!
