One of the absolutely most beautiful wineries around the Paso Robles area is Halter Ranch! http://www.halterranch.com/ There’s an old Victorian on the property, right in front of the tasting room…the whole place is surrounded in vineyards and huge oak trees, and there’s not a direction that you can look in and not see something beautiful! They’ve just built a covered bridge that leads to the new winery facility that they’re building just across the creek…which is all a nice compliment to the rustic old barn buildings and grain silo that sit on the property. It’s a great photo opportunity out there!
Now, on to the wine! It’s awesome…mostly Rhone and Bordeaux varietals, they have a couple of whites, a great rose, and several bold reds. The tasting room has a great view out into the oaks and is the perfect place to grab a glass and enjoy a picnic. You might see Bill, the winemaker, teaching a cooking class on the veranda of the Victorian, or BBQ’ing some homemade sausages on the patio…it’s a good life at Halter Ranch. Stop by and check it out…tell ’em Hoot ‘n Annie sent you! Oh, and the DO have purse hooks!!!
