This was our second time in this two-for-one tasting room, Bodegas de Paso Robles and Asuncion Ridge. The tasting room is small but completely comfortable and homey, and located in the downtown area. It was all decked out for Christmas and it was raining outside so it definitely had the cozy feel. Dorothy, owner and winemaker of Bodegas was in there this day pouring for us and was a lot of fun to chat with as she took us through the list.
The two wineries teamed up in the tasting room and on the tasting menu. They figured out the best order to taste the wines so you go back and forth between the two. Bodegas, with their focus on Spanish varieties seemed to have spicy, light, structured, and interesting wines. Asuncion Ridge, with the Rhones and Bordeaux wines had an eclectic mix of old world style (their Pinot Noir) and big, bold reds. These two wineries definitely compliment each other and it was a delight to get to try them both at the same bar.
