There's no Wild Horses Here…

February 2, 2011 matt 7 Comments

But there’s a LOT of wine…oh yeah, and a Llama named Floyd!  You might have seen Wild Horse wine on the shelf at Albertson’s, but don’t let that make you think that they don’t know how to make interesting, handcrafted wine. Sure, they’ve got their mainstream wines that you find all over the country, but they also have small production lines that include things like Verdelho (Portuguese white variety) Blaufrankish (German Red variety) or Negrette (French red variety).  Did we mention all the Pinot Noirs that they pour as well?  Well, yeah they do!

We’ve talked about Wild Horse before, visited, and even got to feed Floyd.  It’s a pretty cool place with an organic garden, a huge production facility, and a great staff!  Producing over 200,000 cases a year is a big undertaking and we have to say, Wild Horse is pulling it off very well!

Love their wines, been there before and was a wine club memeber. If you ever get to SLO can you do a blog on:

Baileyana Tasting Room & Wine Club
    5828 Orcutt Road
    San Luis Obispo, CA 93401
    805-269-8200

I would love to see their grounds and hear about their wines. I had their GRAND FIREPEAK CUVEE Chardonnay when we had dinner at Napa Rose at the Grand Hotel/California Adventure and it was very good. I’ve found the wines a a liquor store in Los Alamitos.

    Thanks, Cheers!

Hi Bev – that’s pretty cool that you were a club member at Wild Horse! That’s a great place to be a member…lots of choices! As for Baileyana, we’ll definitely go there and check it out. We’ve had some of their wines and agree that they’re good! We got your back, Bev…cheers!!!

Very Cool Annie, it should be a blast. Do you have to let the winery know your coming or do you just show up and do your thing?

We usually just show up and do our thang! Unless we have something specific planned with them…interviews, tours, events, etc. We like the element of surprise…muhahaha!

Floyd, the Llama was very cute! But they tell us he spits if you don’t feed him apples fast enough. Definitely worth a visit!
