In this episode of Hoot n Annie we tasted a 2009 Sauvignon Blanc from Charity Case…but back the train up!! Yes, we are in a hotel room, and yes we still kept this PG. Back to the wine…this Sauv Blanc was nice, but more like a Chardonnay in our opinions. The color, the nose, the palette…all said “Hey, I’m a Chard”, but the label was not in agreement.
We were curious as to what might have been done differently to this wine to make it so much different than a “typical” Sauv Blanc…that curiosity lasted about 7 minutes, then we decided to just enjoy the wine! And to all the scientific wine writers, that’s the goal…enjoy the wine!! Write about that why don’t ya??
Now to the really good stuff, Charity Case is a great group doing great things for people with wine and their profits! Napa area winemakers donate their time, their materials and all of their profits to family and children related charities in the Napa area. How cool is that? Now that’s giving back to your community, and more!

Such a great concept, this Charity Case. Johnine and Brian Talley have a similar project at Talley Vineyards, Mano Tinto, with all proceeds of this wine going to the Vineyard and Farm Worker’s Fund.

Hey Vicki! We’ve heard about the Talley project and are interested in learning more about it. Meanwhile, this Charity Case gig is incredible! Cheers to them…and to YOU!

Bev, Hoot met Charity Case through his Twitter connections. We’re all for getting something like this going in the Paso Robles area, and are in the process of looking into what it would take. We’ll definitely keep you posted! Happy Friday, Cheers!!

Thanks thats cool, if your ever in the Pomona area, check out Horsehill Vineyards Rosé at Cal Poly Pomona. I ate lunch at the restaurant last year and had a tour of their vineyard, garden and wine classes. The Zinfandel rosé wine is made by master winemaker Jon McPherson of South Coast Winery in Temecula from grapes grown on Cal Poly Pomona’s campus. Very cool!

You bet! I love to share any information to my wine lovers/bloggers to spread the word. It’s fun trying/learning new places. A friend is going to school there to be a Sommelier. The students are waiters/cooks and their food is from their garden… Very tastey.
