We had the opportunity to go do a Wine Walk here in Paso Robles. It’s a new business venture in which the old way of wine tasting is tossed to the curb. Instead of having to get a driver or find a friend who’s willing to be the designated driver (we have no friends like that) you meet at the Paso Robles Downtown Park by the gazebo and from there Don, the owner of Wine Tours VIP takes you on a walking tour of downtown Paso wineries.
Oh but that’s not it my friends! On our specific tour he also took us to We Olive to do some olive oil tasting and to Vivant Fine Cheese to chow down on some amazing cheeses. There are roughly 20 downtown wineries and on your tour he walks you to three wineries and then to two additional places; either We Olive, Vivant Fine Cheese, Two Little Birds Bakery, DiRaimondo Italian Market and Cheese Shop, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, or Powelles Sweet Shoppe.
It’s a total of five stops which will take about three and a half hours, and during the walking parts your tour guide will tell you some of the history of Paso Robles. We got a group of eight of us together and sincerely had a blast!! Whether a tourist or a local, it is super fun to go do, Hoot has been in Paso for eight years and learned things about Paso that he hadn’t heard before!
This tour takes place Wednesday through Sunday and it’s $29.00 per person which includes wine tasting as well as other tastings (we had the olive oil tasting and cheese tasting included) and 10% off any purchases. Check with your tour guide for other downtown specials included with your tour! The Wine Walk tour guides will also collect all purchases for you and have them ready for you to pick up at the end of the tour!
Good stuff people, you gotta check this one out. Super fun time right in downtown. Drinking, eating, and then exercising it all off!! Call 805-239-5920 to set up tours and visit http:www.winetoursvip.com.
Side note: Happy Tuesday everyone!! Enjoy your day and do something great!! Let us know what you think of the tour idea too, much appreciated!!

Wow that sounds like fun, we will do that when we are in town. We went on the LARail.com private train on the back of Amtrak from Union Station to Santa Barbara and walked to 3-4 wineries with a tour guide, they served breakfast and dinner on the train, it was a blast.

Hey Bev, yeah, the tour is definitely worth doing! It’s a great idea and we’re happy we got to check it out! Your train tour sounds fun, too! I like trains…haven’t been on one in a LONG time!
Beverly says
Trains are fun but long, we were going to take the train to PR but ended up in SLO, maybe next time we will go by train and rent a car in PR.
Hoot 'n Annie says
I guess it all comes down to whether or not you can bring along a picnic and a bottle or two of wine for that long train trip! After all, you’ve got a designated driver!!!
Beverly says
Business class serves free wine, so on the way home we ordered wine…we had bought some wine to take home from one of the wineries we visited.
Hoot 'n Annie says
Awesome! We’ve been missin’ out! Might have to start traveling via train from now on!

I love to do a wine walk downtown. Unfortuately there are so many good places downtown that my wine walk usually degenerates into a wine crawl, and then a wine snooze on a park bench.
Hoot 'n Annie says
Haha, Gary! We have the same problem sometimes…maybe we can find somebody who does a tour with siestas built in to the schedule!
Lisa Ortman says
Gary- next time you are crawling downtown, we have a sunny back patio where you can take a uninterrupted snooze. I’m sure Chuck would love to join you
Hoot (or Matt) says
Now we’re talking, sleep on the back patio at Ortman, did I say sleep? That would be passing out!! Thanks Lisa!! See you there Gary!! 🙂
Xochitl says
Sounds like fun!
Hoot 'n Annie says
It was FUN! You’d love it Xochitl!
Gary Eberle says
Lisa the reason I don’t is that there is no doubt that Chuck would want to join me. Probably in his big flowered bloomers. Come by my tasting room some time a look at the picture of me, Toby, and your dad, and see if you would trust us on a bench at your place.
Hoot 'n Annie says
Gary and Lisa…thanks for the great visuals!!! Cheers!
