Virginia Wine, Hotel California

March 3, 2011 matt 6 Comments

Another wine we tasted thanks to social media, and I know that you know how much we love social media…and wine!!! This time it was Blenheim Vineyards Viognier (out of Virginia!!) brought to us via Twitter friend Frank Morgan (@DrinkWhatULike).

As you’ll see in the video we enjoyed this wine on a little road trip hotel stay! We got a good amount of minerality, a touch of spritz, as well as good acidity. It was a very nice wine but interesting for people so used to sipping on Paso Robles Viognier, really showed us how different the different regions are but we thought that was a nice showing for newbies to Virginia wines.

Big thanks to Frank, you rock, friend!!

The moral of this post is: try different varieties, different regions, and drink with an open mind that is eager to learn. This Virginia wine swap (and the New York wine swap we did) really motivated us to get hungry about the other regions and what they have to offer.

Cheers people…drink, laugh, and love!!

I did the lunch yesterday, I posted it on Foursquare, I’ll try and forward a couple more pictures of Cal Poly Pomona grounds. Funny thing is while driving through the hills to get there it reminded me of SLO how beautiful the green hills are.

Looks like a fun time! I can’t wait to taste Virginia wines. Hopefully we’ll make it to #WBC11 and see you there.
