A Gift From Heaven? We'll Let You Decide!

March 8, 2011 matt Leave a Comment

These rolling hills of Zinfandel vines are situated in the one of the richest valleys of the Sierra Foothills, in Placer County…rich if you’re into good wine, that is!  Dono dal Cielo (means “Gift from Heaven” in Italian) is a family-owned winery and vineyard that has 30 acres planted with Zinfandel and they’ve got some pretty good juice goin’ on there!  You’ll taste several vintages of Zinfandel along with a Chardonnay (tasty!) and a Late Harvest Zinfandel!  We actually enjoyed everything on the list, even though we’re pretty spoiled with the Paso Robles Zins that surround us.

The scene, you ask?  Yeah, well…it’s super cool!  You can tell they enjoy entertaining, and while we were there they had a band going out on the patio and a jewelery show going on inside the warehouse/tasting room.  There was an awesome crowd and the customer service was great!  We felt welcome right when we walked through the door and our glasses had some of that great Chardonnay in them within seconds of our arrival (always a plus).  Lots of space, cool accessories to peruse, and well-placed pub tables for hanging out are what you’ll find inside; a huge patio with picnic tables and nice views is what you’ll find outside.

Cool wine trail they have going on up there in Auburn, and we were happy we got the opportunity to check it all out!  You should, too!
