Yeah, yeah, wine’s great and all…but what do you drink when you just aren’t in the mood for wine? Or how about when you’re at somebody’s house and they’re not serving wine? Or even when you go to a bar to play pool with your peeps and wine just isn’t an option that you’re feelin’? Well, you go for something else…that’s just what you do! So many options, so many opportunities. Do you go with something like a cold beer? Or do you reach for a cocktail? Maybe a seltzer water with lime, or a soda? Okay, maybe not, but whatever you grab, make it something you enjoy sipping on!
Things we drink besides wine:
– Vodka (with 7-Up, with Tonic, in a Dirty Martini, on the rocks, Screwdriver, Bloody Mary…you get the idea)
– Water (All the damn time, helps when drinking the stuff above and below on the list)
– Gin (Hendricks on the rocks with a splash of something citrus, with Tonic)
– Coffee (Black, with girlie flavored creamer, with sugar, over ice with milk and stuff = Cake in a Cup, any of the above make the morning go ’round)
– Beer (Bud Light, Hefeweizen, Dark Beer, Light Beer, Microbrews, pretty much anything with hops and barley, especially tasty after a long day of wine tasting)
– Scotch (This is Hoot’s sipper of choice when the mood strikes!)
– Once in a very long time, a great Margarita, on the Rocks using a great Tequila and lots of fresh lime!
So…what are you drinking???

I had the best Sunset Raspberry Beer last night at the local microbrewry in town – YUM! I love going to Total Wine and putting together a six-pack of beers – wheat, summer, cider, etc. I love me a GREAT Bloody Mary too:) I drink a ton of water and tea too – trying to cut out the soda. Great Post

Hey Renee! Love the beer selection at Trader Joe’s, too! Grab something different and bring it home to see how it is. Nothing better than a great Bloody Mary on a Sunday morning with lots of trimmings in it! Sort of like a salad bar in your drink…hehehe. Thanks, Renee!!!

A college friend shared a recipe for a bourbon slushie with me, and it’s my go-to drink when I’m having a summer party. A mixture of lemonade and OJ concentrates, sugar, water, black tea (sometimes I’ll use a good chai or throw in some fresh mint leaves while the tea steeps), and, of course, bourbon. Freeze the whole shebang, scoop into glasses and top with 7up or seltzer water (and a little extra bourbon if you’re up for it). Refreshing, and oh so good!

Hey Annie! DAMN!!! That sounds good! Definitely going to have to try that one. Would that work with Vodka, do you think?
Annie says
The bourbon definitely gives it a depth of flavor, but I don’t see why vodka wouldn’t work! Here are the exact proportions:
6 oz frozen OJ concentrate
12 oz frozen lemonade concentrate
2 cups strong-brewed black tea
6 cups water
1 cup sugar
2 cups bourbon
Freeze in a shallow dish (I usually toss it in the freezer and forget about it, but you can scrape with a fork every so often if you prefer smaller ice crystals, or freeze it in an ice cream maker for more of a “Slurpee” consistency – can you tell I’ve done this a few times?? lol!)
If you try it with vodka, I’d love to know how it turns out!
