Clayhouse Wines: Red, White, and Pink

July 25, 2012 matt 2 Comments

Not necessarily in that order though!! We recently were sent some samples from Clayhouse Winery and we obliged by sampling them. The lineup consisted of some great stuff!

The Clayhouse Lineup…

2011 Adobe White- We have long enjoyed their Adobe White and this one was no exception. It is 49% Viognier  and with a price tag of about $15.00, you can’t go wrong!!

2011 Adobe Pink- What can I say, we’ve become Rose fanatics! This one is a mix (I could say blend but that is so yesterday) of Mourvedre, Grenache Noir, and Syrah. This too retails at about $15.00 and the bottle is empty…if that means anything to you!!

2010 Cabernet Sauvignon- Not sure what the price point is on this one but the 2009 retailed for about $15.00 as well. Solid wine for sure, good fruit on the palate and easy drinking!!

2010 Malbec- I’m a sucker for Malbec, luckily there are a handful here in Paso Robles. This too retails for about $15.00 and I found it to be just like the Cab. A solid wine, drinkable, and wonder how it would have gone with food…since I’ve given up food I guess I  won’t know (just kidding, obviously).

2010 Syrah- This too retails for about $15.00 and is definitely a Syrah, meaty with some tobacco on it for me.

You can see that these are some of their value wines and when you compare the price to the juice I think it’s a great lineup of wines. It’s like we always say, some nights a $100 Saxum will do the trick, some nights a $15 to $20 value wine will do the trick, and other nights an adventure into the $6 Trader Joe swill handles the job. Most nights though, wine drinkers are consuming value wines and I’d urge you to give these a try.

And if you do try them out, let us know what you think!! Until next time, comb your hair and brush your teeth. Cheers!!

Sounds like a good lineup! I’ve tried one or two from Clayhouse but it’s been awhile (hint, hint Clayhouse folks that might be reading :).

Hey David…yeah, Clayhouse has some great stuff! They do a good variety of wines, so there’s bound to be something for everybody. We love the price points as well, very reasonable. Cheers, and have a great weekend!
