What To Do for Annie's Birthday???

January 2, 2013 matt 4 Comments

Soooooo…it was Annie’s birthday on the 29th of December and it was a bit different than normal because we have the adorable, amazing, cutie pie named Sammy which requires a little extra thought. I left it up to Annie for the most part and she had decided that we would go downtown right here in Paso Robles. Luckily for us, we absolutely love hanging out downtown, especially during the wintery Christmas time…it’s just beautiful.

Annie wanted to go to The Kilt (now known as Pappy McGregor’s but we love the O.G. name) so we headed down for lunch with Sammy boy. Annie had the Thai Shrimp Salad, I had a cup of Clam Chowder, and Sammy had formula (Haha)…but Annie and I also had breakfast/ lunch cocktails. Always love going to The Kilt, the service is always awesome and the food is always good.

After The Kilt we headed down the road to Anglim Winery (located at the train station in Paso) to taste through their line-up of wines. We had not been there for quite some time so we were due. I’m always a fan of their wines and really enjoyed their Cameo (blend of 78% Viognier, 15% Grenache Blanc, and 7% Roussanne), the Grenache, and their two Pinot Noirs. Although all their wines are very nice, these were the ones tasting especially good for me right now. Thank you to Steffanie for another great experience at Anglim!!

From there we headed over to Asuncion Ridge Winery across from the park to taste the wines and visit with Teresa. We had a great time there as well and I especially enjoyed tasting through their Pinot Noirs. They’ve also got a nice Sauvignon Blanc and I don’t typically drink that. Teresa, as always, was amazing so thank you to her as well.

That’s the one thing I love about being able to go taste as a local, the relationships we’ve built over the years with the winery folks has been awesome and it means a lot to us. Especially now having Sammy, these people have really become extended family.

We headed home after these three stops and ended up having an impromptu party at home with a handful of friends and family. Annie ordered some dinner in and we enjoyed some wine, music, and watched a movie. All in all, it was an awesome day. Obviously we made some changes to what we may have normally done due to having Sammy now, but we still rolled out and had a great time.

Thanks to those that played a part in Annie’s birthday, cheers!!

Cheers Beverly! We had a great time. Always good to get out and see friends while sipping on some wine. Very different now with Sammy, but good times nonetheless. Cheers and Happy New Year!!

Hey there Jo. Thank you!! We had a great day. As for Sammy, he sleeps pretty good. Still gets up once or so in the night to eat but that’s better than getting up every 3 hours like he use to. He’s also had a couple nights where he’ll sleep 8 hours straight. Good times. 🙂
