Food is an essential part of everyone’s life but when looked from the social stand point, it really is an incredible aspect of our lives. We see it when we break bread at different holidays, go out to a nice restaurant with your spouse or friends, have a gathering at your home and everyone ends up huddled around the kitchen, or that superb wine and food pairing you come across. Food is something we need whether we’re happy or sad, rich or poor, and single or married. It brings us together and breaks the ice. It provides us with important nutrition that we need as well give us those all important social situations.
The funny thing though, is that I never looked at food like this until I met Annie. My idea of food was hot pockets, frozen burritos, and Taco Bell. I certainly never thought of food as a social thing, I simply thought it was what needed to happen when my stomach growled so you filled it quickly and moved on. In the last six years I have had the privilege to eat Annie’s amazing cooking and some absolutely ridiculously good restaurants, caterers, and other home cooks.
What the hell am I getting at?
I say all this because another goal we have this year it to start including more food and wine pairings on our blog as well as more restaurant and other food ideas and thoughts. In the below slideshow you will find some recent dishes we have enjoyed.

wow everything looks good, I bet Annie is a great cook from looking at some of the pictures she’s cooked.
Hi Bev! I do my best with the cooking thing…I really enjoy being creative with food! We’ll have to break bread together sometime!
Looking forward to breaking bread with you and meeting Sammy someday. 🙂
Annie IS awesome indeed, Bev!! We can’t wait to meet up with you, break bread, and share a bottle of good wine! Cheers to you!!
I must agree, food and wine has a way of bringing down the heavy shields so many carry all day in this crazy world. It is such a common thing that brings people together and allows for the social interaction…..assuming the TV is off and no smart phones are around. 🙂
LOL…that’s the hard part for me, Shawn…having the TV and cell phone off. The food and wine thing is such an amazing thing…it sparks great conversation, it can break the ice, and it can bring people together. All those Italians and Europeans got it right! 🙂
Oh Annie, Annie, Annie, you know that is not real Scottish Shepherd’s Pie. I am coming to visit to make sure you get to taste the real thing:)
I know, I know, Kate!!! You’re my best Scottish food expert…come show us!!! xoxo
