Wow, another month gone by which means another month of wine drinking and time for us to let you know what our three favorite wines from February were.
Matt’s three favorite, in no particular order:
2011 Sigalas Santorini Assyrtiko (White Wine) This one was brand new to me which is part of why it made my list. I love trying new wines and this one was quite nice.
2008 Booker (The Alchemist- 65% Syrah, 10% Petit Verdot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Tempranillo, 5% Grenache) I’ve tasted this one before but it had been some time, first time we opened a bottle and it was damn tasty.
2008 McIntyre Vineyards Mission Ranch Pinot Noir – I’ve tasted a few of McIntyre’s wines before and always enjoyed them. After our recent trip up to Monterey we stopped in to taste and I met with Steve McIntyre for some work I was doing. Not only is he a great guy and very into sustainable farming (SIP Certified) but the wines are really nice.
Annie’s three favorite, in no particular order:
2008 Booker (same as Matt’s) – This was just delicious…big and fruity and juicy and the perfect thing to celebrate Valentine’s Day at home with our little dude!
2008 Donati Family Vineyard Cabernet Franc – A really smooth and pleasant red that doesn’t knock you over on the palate!
2010 Tobin James Chardonnay – Okay, okay, to be honest, this isn’t the best Chardonnay I’ve ever had, but it’s solid, consistent, tasty, and happens to be a great price point. It’s one of those wines that I just feel good drinking…like a happy party in your mouth!
So there you have it my wine drinking brethren. What were your favorites from the past month? Oh, and a very Happy Friday to ya!!

I had a 2009 Beni di Batasiolo Barbaresco the other day which off the chain. Like you, I enjoy trying new wine, and it was my first Barbaresco! Cheers!
Nice Martin, I have not had one. I definitely have my go to wines but I still consider myself a newbie to wine in the sense that I am mostly familiar with Paso Robles and California wines. Fun trying new things for sure.
Glad to hear that one of Annie’s faves for February was the Cabernet Franc! Great to see you guys last week, we’ll have to set up the ‘play date’ once Sammy is able to get around a little bit.
Happy Friday, y’all!

Mitch, we opened that Cab Franc last night and it was the bomb. Annie’s mom was over for dinner and she really liked it too. Thanks man and enjoy your Friday/ weekend!!
Opolo Mountain Zin-excellent somewhat sweet for a Zin.
Beringer-Sauv Blanc-not bad.
South Coast Winery-Chard Sans Chene-always been my favorite a bit like Sanv Blanc
Keeping the price point down since I’m still unemployed an had to do lots of cut backs….bummer. Cheers! & Happy Friday.
Very nice Bev!! I understand the price point thing. We definitely have a good mix of price points here at home…helps having friends in the industry! 🙂
Sounds like another good month! Most of those are unfamiliar to me other than the Tobin James & McIntire. I’ve got notes for my list, following your example, but wanted to get my latest recipe up first.
Right on David!! I look forward to your list. It’s really hard to get it down to 3 but I think a short list is better! Cheers to you and have a great weekend!
Most of the links to the wineries themselves are broken, probably because you didn’t start them with http://…, so they are relative to the URL for this post.
Hmmm, Mike…sorry we messed up on that. I will double check.
Spot on with this write-up, I really suppose this web site needs rather more consideration. most likely be once more to learn much more, thanks for that info.
