Our ZinFest weekend had no Zin (otherwise known as Zinfandel) in it whatsoever. Here’s what we did do though…
First, on Saturday, we headed down to Templeton to hit up their Famer’s Market so Annie could stock up on some local healthy produce. From there we headed to downtown Templeton to Clavo Cellars. Instead of doing a tasting we just got a glass of wine. I got their Albarino and Annie got the Rose…the warmer weather recently has her convinced it’s Rose weather. I’m down with that!
After hanging out and chatting with Neil Roberts (owner and friend) we headed to Castoro Cellars because our buddy Jim Sweetwater was playing there. If you haven’t taken the time to hear him, you need to…it’s a ton of fun! While at Castoro Cellars we met up with an online friend, someone we had not met in person yet. Jo follows our blog and some of our stuff on Facebook so we thought it would be cool to meet up since they were in town. We had a great time and she got to meet little Sammy and all that good stuff.

We stayed at Castoro for a couple of hours and I had a couple glasses of wine…both white since it was nice and warm out there. Even though the music was loud (not for me but for Sammy) Sammy managed to fall asleep. Gotta love that. Jim Sweetwater finally got to meet Sammy too…we love getting Sammy out there on the trail to mix and mingle with our friends.
After leaving Castoro we headed home and ended up grilling some pork chops and hanging out. It was a great Satruday!!
On Sunday we went down to BarrelHouse Brewing for our second time. They had green beer and a super cool band playing. I absolutely LOVE that place. The beer, the people, and the facility are awesome!
So what did you do ZinFest weekend??
Hey Hoot! Sounds like you guys had a great time staying just on the “fringe” of the Zinfest! We tried to do the same thing and took the ’53 Chevy out to tour the town on Saturday…hit Mitchella, Derby and then up to visit Rob and Paula at Graveyard. Great time and great wines at all of them. Being gluttons for punishment, we went out again on Sunday and took the Chevy around on the backroads. Hit Hunt Cellars, Shale Oak and then went a long way up to Vista Del Rey in Sam Miguel to listen to our friend Lynne play violin. Dave King is the proprietor and has some really great stories to tell about dry farming and being organic. Makes some really good wines! We also ran into Miss Odette there along with her wonderful BB-Q sauces! All in all, a great Zinfest weekend! Looking forward to seeing you soon!
Wow Steve…sounds like you had an amazing weekend!! Haven’t been to Graveyard in a long time and I’ve never been to Hunt or Vista Del Rey. Love Shale Oak, Mitchella, and Derby!! I hadn’t seen Miss Odette in a long time…I was wondering where she disappeared to.
Definitely need to hang out some time. Heading to Palm Springs for a few days then back to Paso for the next wine adventure!! 🙂
Twas a good time had by all!!! Definitely need to get together soon….have a great time in Palm Springs…great time of the year to visit!!! If you like tequila, visit Las Casuelas Terraza and their wall of tequila! They are located at 222 Sout Palm Canyon Drive in the middle of town…authentic Mexican food…nice outdoor seating and the best selection of tequila I have ever had the pleasure of sampling! Cheers!
Nice Steve, good info. Not sure we’ll have time for that but we shall see. Going down to visit my grandmother, she has not met the baby yet. Family fun! 🙂
