This past weekend was the “Real Men Drink Pink” party out at Star Farms in San Miguel and holy crap, this party renewed my faith in parties. From the moment we arrived on this overcast, windy day it was just a sea of pink.
This is probably the most unique wine party we’ve been to thus far due to the theme (Rose), the location, and the outfits (as you’ll see in the slideshow below). The group of people that came together to put this event on are outstanding in my book. If you look at the participating wineries you’ll understand just how awesome this event was. On top of the wineries the food was top notch and oh yes, The English Beat was there to rock the stage.
It felt like going to a reunion…seeing so many friends and locals wearing pink was really cool. It was great to catch up, hang out, and try all those Rose’s side by side. It was the most diverse group of Rose’s we’ve had an opportunity to taste since we were at the Rose Lunch at Hospice du Rhone a couple years back. The difference here was that these were ALL local wines!!
I really don’t know what to focus on in this blog post…everything was that good. The event was put on to benefit must! charities and the Cancer Support Community’s Breast Cancer Care Fund. It’s always pretty bad ass in my book when you can come together and party but do it for a good cause…well done Cypher Winery and all who participated.
If you have not heard of Star Farms be sure to check it out if or when you have a chance…the property is so cool. Check out the photos below and you’ll see what I mean.
If you are not aware or involved in must! charities yet, I have no clue what in the hell you’re waiting for. The people involved in this charity (tons of winery folks) and the events they are doing are absolutely over-the-top amazing. Get involved today!
I definitely think you should check out all the wineries and food vendors that showed up. They are supporting these charities and by supporting them you too are supporting the charities.
I also want to thank the many awesome peeps that made it into the slideshow: Adam and Jeremy (otherwise known as the Cork Dorks), Ted Plemons from Cass Winery, Joel Peterson from Hope Family Wines, our homie T from Halter Ranch, Bobby Fox now Bobby, Neil Collins from Lone Madrone (and Tablas Creek), Jenn from Tablas Creek (still call you Bravo), and to the best outfit worn by the Pink Pimp at Peachy Canyon Winery. I don’t know his name but he was The Best Dressed for sure.
I’ll go ahead and say that was the party of the year thus far…for all the reasons mentioned above and more. I look forward to next year and if you missed it this year, shame on you. Hope to see you next year…until then…get your Pink on!!

Hi Matt and Annie,
Nice write-up!
The mysterious-and-impeccably-dressed man in the pink suit is Conor Lawler, or Assistant Tasting Room Manager at Peachy Canyon. He put that suit together in honor of the Pink! party.

Hey Matt – Yes, it was a great party. Lots of fun costumes and the rose’s were great. My top three (not including the LS I poured) were L’Aventure, Ranchero Cellars and Epoch. All kinds of fun, even with the cloudy weather.
Thanks for the fun photos! I need to remember those socks next time I go out in Paso!

Joel, LOL…for sure. I think you need to wear that outfit next time you have reservations at Artisan or something!! Not a bad day at all considering it was cloudy and windy for part of it.
