Is it just me or is Paso Robles becoming the foodie travel destination of the world?
Okay, maybe not the world but we have a brand new restaurant in Paso Robles and we went to the soft opening last night (Tuesday July 2, 2013). La Cosecha Bar & Restaurant is located in the building that used to house Vinoteca Wine Bar and most recently, Fenomenal.
My first reaction is, I hope this one sticks for two reasons…1) the revolving door of businesses in some of the downtown locations isn’t good and 2) the owners of La Cosecha are the owners of Il Cortile Ristorante about a block and a half away and they are very cool people.
So, they made many changes to the inside of the building but most importantly they followed the trend of adding an outdoor seating area which looks directly into the Paso Robles Downtown Park…it’s beautiful! I love the new bar as well as the new furtniture, which, if I’m not mistaken is reclaimed wood from a barn at a local farm. The new light fixtures are really cool too; I especially liked the new sconces.
The food we tried last night was really good but it was a “passed tapas” affair so we didn’t really get to taste a bunch of what will be happening, that being said, if you know Chef Santos you know damn well the food will be amazing. You can see some pics in the slideshow below and possibly make out the menu that I took photos of. It looks great.
The bar area looks awesome, really inviting and, well, to be honest (as you know) I love bars so you can’t really go wrong. They were serving Cava and Sangria last night…we went with the Cava.
Over all, I say GO and check it out. They officially open for dinner this Friday and start serving lunch this coming Monday. These are really great people and as I always say…we need to get the hell out there and support these local restaurants. I know to some folks it seems like we have too many restaurants in downtown, although I disagree, but with the huge tourism aspect of our town I think it’s great to have the diversity. So go support your favorites and be sure to check out La Cosecha and let me know what you think.
Happy 4th of July (yes, I know it’s July 3, but we will not be posting on here tomorrow…or maybe we will, not decided)…please be careful and enjoy every second. We are lucky to be here, right now, in this moment. Soak it up and enjoy your friends and family!!

Oops, that’s “my” b’day dinner. And by the way…sometimes I actually feel like my avatar looks.
Hoot (or Matt) says
LOL…Xochitl, I feel that way sometimes too. I think you’ll dig the new spot although I am interested in going back when the full menu is available!!

HI Guys,
I went there for dinner on Saturday night. I agree with you regarding the atmosphere being very nice yet I have to express a little disappointment in the food. To be honest I was under the impression this was going to be a less expensive version of Il Cortille, which by the way I love. So I was surprised by the tapas concept. While the food was good I felt the prices were too high. I had the White Sangria and it was very tasty but not worth the $10 a glass. Next time I will order wine instead. For the money I spent I would have rather gone to Il Cortile.

Gina, interesting. That’s what I heard too, that it would be less than Il Cortile. When we went they were not serving from the menu but when I took pics of the menu I didn’t really pay attention to the prices. The good thing is that it seems most people love their food/ restaurants…the price thing may be an issue I’m not sure, only they know that. I mean, if the prices are high and people aren’t coming in that’s a sign.
