As I say every time I do this post about our favorite wines from the month before…where in the hell does the time go? I mean, I know we’re all “busy” but I think there’s some kind of insanely cruel joke going on and somewhere underground there a room full of people laughing their asses off. That said…let’s get down to business…
Annie’s 3 favorite wines from September, in no particular order:
2008 Bella Luna Barbera (terrific with the red sauce we had for dinner! Great wine!!!)
2011 Tablas Creek Antithesis (100% Chardonnay)
2010 Ponzi Vineyards Pinot Noir (great Pinot, smooth and delish)
Matt’s 3 favorite wines from September, in no particular order:
2012 J Dusi Pinot Grigio (not normally a Pinot Grigio fan but this was awesome and it paired well with warm Paso days last month)
2008 Bella Luna Barbera (Annie and I both enjoyed this wine, I must say…it was absolutely amazing!)
2010 Alta Colina Estate GSM (Tasted this at the Rhone Rangers event held at Cypher Winery in honor of Grenache Day. Alta Colina is one of those small local producers that you NEED to go try if you haven’t…or even if you have.)
There you have it folks, another edition of “our three favorite wines from” the month before…I know you eagerly and patiently wait for this each month, much appreciated. I smell a little snark in the air today…going to be a good day.
All that aside…we are entering red wine season in our house. There’s nothing quite like fall and harvest in the air, a nice red wine, and possibly the fireplace turned on. It’s Annie’s favorite time of year but I am deathly afraid of the cold…I just don’t like it. Oh well, I will attempt to be a man about it this year but no promises.
Cheers!

LOL. I lived in Japan for three winters without insulation, central heating, and dealt with snow blowing underneath my front door into the hallway. 🙂
Those were the days…and I didn’t even care much for alcoholic drinks back then to help keep me warm. Thank goodness for the warm SLO County reds as we soon transition into the “colder” time of year!
Elizabeth, you are tougher than I…LOL. Not sure why it is, I have lived in some fairly cold, snowy areas but sun is my thing. 🙂 Cheers to the Central Coast!!
Sounds like another good list! I haven’t had anything from Tablas Creek in awhile, need to do something about that. Mine was easily a 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape a few of us had one night this month after a meeting.
David…Tablas is definitely a stand out around here. That CdP you had must have been nice, I unfortunately have not had very much experience with wines outside the U.S…a problem I need to fix.
