As usual there’s a lot going on in Paso Robles this weekend…and in general. This past Thursday was the first Third Thursday which is a new “event” that goes to benefit must! charities. This is a collaboration with many downtown businesses and kudos to them for jumping on board and getting involved. I suggest following the Third Thursday Facebook page to stay in the loop on what’s going on with that.
Today is the start of Harvest Wine Weekend in Paso Robles. There is not one main event, instead a lot of the wineries are doing things at their facilities…like food, live music, winery tours, barrel tastings, and so on. You will have to check out each winery website to see what they are doing over the weekend.
Firestone Walker Brewery recently won American Mid-Sized Brew of the year at the Great American Beer Festival, as well as Brew of the Year for the fourth time.
I’m super stoked for them and for Paso Robles…but I must admit, I prefer going to BarrelHouse Brewing down the road. They are smaller and it’s fun supporting the smaller guys…but I will always drink me some Firestone beer.
The Garagiste Festival is coming up November 7 – 10. This is the third year of the event and it is, without a doubt, the best place to taste so many small lot producers…most, if not all, of these wineries do not have tasting rooms.
The Vina Robles Amphitheatre concert series is ending for the year on October 29 with the Moody Blues. If you haven’t been out to this venue you have a couple of more opportunities this year, otherwise you have to wait until next year. As I’ve said before, I love that this venue is here in Paso Robles…it’s been a blast the couple of time we’ve been there.
I would say the biggest and most important thing that happened was Sammy, our little dude, turning one year old this past Saturday (October 12). For those of you that are interested here’s the link to the blog post I did about that over on LittleBrowne.com. It includes some photos and all that…I have some video but have not uploaded it yet. It was a pretty cool day for Annie and I. Not only did some awesome family and friends gather to celebrate with us but we accomplished one full year of raising a human being…not for the faint of heart.
I know I’m missing some stuff and I am sure you will let me know what I’m missing…but this is a good list. As I have said time and time again, there is always something going on in Paso Robles. Oh, side note…this morning (Friday, October 18) at the intersection of Creston Rd. and Golden Hills Rd. there was a white Toyota truck that made the left off of Golden Hills onto Creston and apparently many cases of wine fell off the pallet he had in the bed. Anyone know who that was?
Other than that, cheers and enjoy the hell out of your Harvest Wine Weekend.

Are you and Annie going to the LXV opening of their tasting room on 13th and Pine tonight?
Matt aka Hoot says
Steve, would be cool but unless something changes we don’t have plans to attend tonight. Although, if we did show up I might have your jacket with me. LOL.
Steve Baker says
Sounds good…hopefully you can make it but I know the situation with sitters! We will probably be there around 5:30ish…cheers!
Matt aka Hoot says
Right on, Steve. Thanks!!

Can’t wait for the Garagiste Festival! Coming down to pour on Friday and taste on Saturday woohoo! 🙂
Hoot (or Matt) says
William, right on man. I have not had any of your wines yet but heard good things. Hope to taste them on Saturday!!
William Allen says
Unfortunately I am only pouring at the two Friday events 🙁
Hoot (or Matt) says
Gotcha…well, I am sure I will get a chance to taste the wine eventually.
