As usual there’s a lot going on in Paso Robles.
First I have to mention the rain that finally came our way. Thank you 8 pound tiny baby Jesus for that. Not that we’re out of the woods at all but so far February has been good to us when it comes to water.Robert Haas, Rhone Ranger pimp daddy and head cheese at Tablas Creek Vineyard, is receiving the lifetime achievement award from The Rhone Ranger organization for all of his work in the world of Rhone. Congrats to him and Tablas Creek. His son, Jason, wrote a great blog post about that…you can read that here.
Speaking of The Rhone Rangers, the Paso Robles chapter has an event that is February 16 at Broken Earth Winery. Be there or be square. We’ll be there and I’m seriously considering streaking the seminar portion of that event. Read more about that event here.
As you may or may not know I have started writing wine reviews for Cooking Stoned. It’s been fun so far and I’m learning to write in a way different than I am used to. It’s a good thing for sure but taking a little time. It’s nice having a real editor though, someone that knows their shitake.
The reason I am posting these here is because I totally suck at promoting myself or my work. I need to get over that. Here’s a list of the wines I’ve reviewed to date:
2011 Ancient Peaks Cabernet Sauvignon
2010 Burbank Ranch Grenache Blanc
2010 Ancient Peaks Cabernet Sauvignon
2007 D’Anbino Cellars Orchestration
2011 Chamisal Vineyards Estate Chardonnay
It’s always good to go check out what’s happening at the wineries and this is the best link I have found for that, brought to you by the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance. Check that page here.
As you know I’m a fan of the Wine Folly blog and have moments of being interested in wine knowledge. I thought this was a good blog post by the folks over there so just wanted to share it. It’s about identifying flavors in wine, read that here.
That’s it for now folks. I hope you have a great weekend. Remember, this trip is so short, so let go of the drama and take a deep breath. Enjoy!
