Fish Gaucho is the new restaurant on the corner of 13th Street and Park Street in downtown Paso Robles. It’s brought to you by the same owners of Pappy McGregor’s and I will just go ahead and say right now, the place is awesome!
Before I talk about the awesome I will mention the things I thought could be better. The bar area is really cool. You have the actual bar with stools and then you have seating right behind that with small tables and a long booth style bench seat. None of that really bothered me except the fact that it’s pretty tight in there. The lane between those back seats and the stools at the bar is pretty narrow making it hard for consumers and staff to move.
That said, I think it’s a very minor problem and so long as staff keeps consumers from loitering in the lane (I like that, loitering in the lane) all should be fine.
So what was awesome at Fish Gaucho?
You will get an idea of the décor from the photos below but I really dig it. It felt casual, comfortable, and laid back. Three of my favorite things. They have a full bar with some amazing margaritas and tequilas. The food menu is small, which I think is a good thing, but that will change in the future. We had the salsa trio with guacamole and chips along with a half dozen Blue Point Oysters. Next time I want to try their nachos and the wet burrito they have…those looked amazing.
Due to the fact that the place is new it was packed. I foresee that settling down but my prediction as of right now is that Fish Gaucho is going to be the new hot spot in Paso Robles. It will definitely be a place Annie and I go often due to the vibe and the menu. They have about five tables outside on the 13th Street side of the restaurant which I think will be cool to hang out at and watch life pass by.
There you have it. Another new spot in Paso Robles but take note, barring anything odd coming into play, I think this place will be in the top few spots to hang out downtown. Check out the photos below and let me know what you think when you get in to try it!
