My favorite variety changes throughout the year but as of now I am definitely in white wine mode. Welcome to Paso! I must say that my absolute favorite thing to do as far as wine goes is to try new grapes or ones I have not had often. This is what I often refer to as the ‘wine adventure’. I just can’t drink one variety or one brand all the time.
That said, my favorite varieties as of right now are Grenache Blanc and Albarino. I cannot get enough of these. There are many great GBs and Albarinos here in Paso and the unfortunate thing is that I am out of both in the house. What does that mean? Time to go shopping.
Your turn. What variety is finding its way into your glass most often this time of year? I’m curious what else I should be picking up. I need help on the adventure.
I got into this business because of Cabernet 43 years ago, and it is still my favorite grape and wine. The grape in the vineyard is the most civilized of the vinifera varieties, and the wine from those grapes is the most complex and flavorable in my opinion.
I agree with you, Gary. In fact, you got me into Cab again after I had kind of grown tired of it. During the summer though I definitely drink more white wine. We were in not too long ago and grabbed some wine. Unfortunately it’s already gone.
Call and make sure I’m here when you want wine. Then just send Annie out.
