Food & Wine: The Hurricane Kitchen at Donati Family Vineyard

May 10, 2016 matt 2 Comments

Annie recently heard that The Hurricane Kitchen food truck would be at Donati Family Vineyard every Friday afternoon from 11:30 – 4:30, so she had to twist my arm to get me to go recently. Actually, there was no twisting because when it comes to food and wine…well…I’m all in. We took Sammy with us after we picked him up from school and met a few friends to imbibe with (good times, Kelly, Megan, and Brock…as usual).

We did not taste through their line up, we were more in the mood for a glass. So these are what we had:

2013 Chardonnay $25.00

2014 Sisters Forever Unoaked Chardonnay $16.00

2014 Pinot Blanc (not sure of price)

The Pinot Blanc, if I’m not mistaken, was just released or about to be. Either way, it was really nice. The two Chards were good but I preferred the unoaked. And now, here’s what we ordered off the food truck:

Duck Confit – honey fennel sauce • basil pesto • herbs de provence

Grass Fed Beef Burger – herb rubbed in a coffee cola bbq sauce • grilled pasilla & red peppers • dijon aioli • jack cheese

This is our second time having food from this particular food truck. The first time was at Four Lanterns Winery at Vintage Paso Zinfandel Weekend. I think they are killing it. The burger was amazing. Juicy and tons of flavor. Annie loved the Duck Confit but I can’t tell you what I thought because we shared nothing! Haha, sometimes sharing is overrated.

Bottom line, fun experience. It was cool to see our friends and hang out for a while. It was great to see Mitch as well, it was his day off from Donati but he came out to enjoy the food with his wife as well. I’d like to think he came because we were there but I doubt it. No hard feelings.

Donati is one of those joints that’s got a great location right on HWY 46 West and Vineyard Drive. It’s got a good sized tasting room as well as a lounge that was quite comfortable. If you haven’t been…you need to!

*Bonus tidbit: check out the slideshow for a pic of Sammy wearing the infamous Donati Family Paesano mustache…their trademark wine club disguise!

It was a nice surprise to run into you guys last Friday. Sammy’s moustache looked great, by the way…
