Here’s another interesting winery in Paso Robles. The story of how Victor and Jenny started Vines On the Marycrest, the story behind the name, their love of music, their passion for wine, and Victor’s philosophy on why all of his wines are screw cap. It truly is worth visiting to hear it all firsthand.
Annie’s mom was up visiting and had recently joined their wine club so we decided to go tasting because…why not? So here’s what we tasted:
2015 At Last (65% Grenache Blanc 30% Viognier 5% Roussanne) $28.00
2015 Summertime Rose (48% Grenache 34% Mourvedre 18% Syrah) $26.00
2013 Zinfandel (100% Zinfandel) $38.00
2013 Sangiovese (100% Sangiovese) $40.00
2012 Syrah (100% Syrah) $38.00
2013 My Generation (49% Zinfandel 33% Syrah 9% Mourvedre 9% Petite Sirah) $38.00
2013 Malbec (100% Malbec)
Buck’s Boogie (Late harvest dessert wine) $28.00
Not on the list we tasted:
2013 Syrah (will be on the list soon I assume)
2013 Mourvedre (not on the tasting list but we bought a bottle…delish!!)
Overall we enjoyed the wines. The ones that stuck out to me were: At Last, Summertime Rose, Zinfandel (not typically a Zin fan), Sangiovese, and My Generation. Anyways, my opinion doesn’t matter, go taste for yourself. I guarantee you’ll find some wines on the list that you enjoy and beyond that I guarantee you’ll enjoy talking to Victor and Jenny. They make you feel right at home and are as interested in you as they are in their passion for wine.
Victor even brought out some toys for Sammy to play with and at one point even got down on the floor with him. Very genuine, good people. I should also mention that you should keep an eye out on their website for live music. They’ve put together some amazing shows thus far, although we’ve not yet been able to attend due to schedules.
There you have it winos and adventurers. Go check them out and let me know what you think! Thank you again, Victor!
