About two weeks ago we hit a couple of cool spots on Highway 46 West in Paso Robles, Tooth & Nail Winery and J. Dusi. You can’t miss Tooth & Nail, it’s a castle. We lucked out, Dan Curcio was performing. We’ve seen him numerous times over the years and he’s even got a fan in our little dude, Sammy.
We didn’t do a wine tasting here, instead we decided to get a bottle and lounge on their amazing patio. Sometimes it’s nice to just hang out and have a glass of wine rather than go through the tasting menu. Just my opinion. We got the Stasis Chardonnay and enjoyed that while listening to Dan do his thing. If you haven’t heard him, create a Pandora station, buy his music, or go see him live. On top of the good tunes, he’s a super genuine guy.
As for Tooth & Nail, we’ve written about them before and bottom line, they have some nice wines, great music venue, and great patio with views.
We left there and headed over to J. Dusi…again. This is another great hang out winery in Paso Robles. Love their patio overlooking their one of their vineyards. It’s a casual, fun, playful spot to sip wine and watch the cars roll by on Highway 46 West.
We tasted:
2015 Pinot Grigio $18.00
2015 Rose (Grenache and Carignane) $22.00
2014 Zinfandel $38.00
2013 Sly (44% Tempranillo 44% Grenache 12% Syrah) $38.00
2013 Endless Crush (45% Tempranillo 20% Graciano 20% Monestrell 15% Petite Sirah) $32.00
2014 The Don (Sangiovese and Cabernet) $38.00
The Pinot Grigio and Rose are PERFECT Paso summer wines. So good. Really enjoyed the Endless Crush as well. We enjoyed a plate with nuts, chocolate salami, and other goodies with the wine tasting.
The people at Dusi are always so nice, the customer service is fantastic. Another thing, if you’re interested, is the amazing history of the Dusi family in the Paso Robles area. You can read some of that here.
I’d call that another successful day in wine country…wouldn’t you?
