A while back when our friend Sean was in town the three of us headed out for a typical day in Paso Robles. It involved food, wine, and some spirits.
We started at Oso Libre Winery for their Estate Angus BBQ Burger day. These are brought to you by Chef Jeff Scott (and his sidekick Natale Koch). We’ve had their burgers at Lone Madrone’s Burger Sunday’s before but these are made with Oso Libre’s estate angus. They were out of this world good. Check the photos below. We enjoyed a glass of wine with the burgers but don’t ask me to remember what it was. It was good to catch up with Chris while there, he’s one of the owners.
Our second stop of the day was Grey Wolf Cellars (Barton Family Wines). Due to the fact that we ate an entire cow at Oso libre we had no room to enjoy Chef Jeffry M. Wiesinger’s amazing food at Barton’s Kitchen Window…but we shall do that again one day soon. At Grey Wolf we just decided to enjoy a bottle and sit back in wine country. And possibly let that burger we had digest a bit.
Then, the light bulb went off. We decided to taste at KroBar Craft Distillery which is right behind Grey Wolf and is owned by Joe Barton of Grey Wolf along with Steve Kroener of Silver Horse Winery. Here’s what we tasted:
Botanical Brandy
Gin
Single Barrel Gin
Rye Whiskey
It was a fun tasting. The guy pouring, Andrew I believe, was super nice and knew his stuff about the adult beverages. I enjoyed the line-up and walked away with a bottle of the Single Barrel Gin. Well, I didn’t walk away with it before paying that is.
Anyways, so that was our day. Cruising around wine country in the new Jeep and checking out a nice mix of local spots. The adventure continues.
