Crazy Healthy Smoothie

May 30, 2018 Annie 4 Comments

As you might be able to tell, we’ve been upping our health game lately with some pretty incredible foods. We’ve been learning a TON of cool stuff on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast and it’s inspiring us to walk the walk when it comes to what we’re eating. I think it’s really important to be intentional about what you eat, especially in a time where you can get your hands on any kind of food at any moment. What you put into your body will absolutely determine how you feel. There’s also a ton of research on the damage that sugar and processed foods can do to your gut and body.

It takes a few minutes to put together, but I think it’s worth it!

The current smoothie blender combo that makes 2 smoothies:

–        Frozen broccoli sprouts – handful (we did a post on how to grow your own here)

–        Frozen kale – handful

–        Frozen berries – handful (use any fruit that you like)

–        2 cloves of garlic

–        Fresh ginger – to your liking

–        Cinnamon – 2 teaspoons

–        Bone Broth Collagen protein powder – 2 scoops

–        Plain Greek yogurt – ½ cup

–        Water – about ½ way up the blender

Each one of the ingredients in our smoothie has a specific benefit and purpose. We told you all about the broccoli sprouts in a previous blog post here. The kale is a leafy green that has a lot of iron, folate, and other micronutrients. The berries have lots of antioxidents and add a little natural sweetness. Fresh garlic helps prevent disease, including heart. Cinnamon helps blood sugar levels, digestion, and immunity. Bone Broth Collagen protein is excellent for inflammation, joint and muscle health. The Plain Greek yogurt is an excellent source of protein and is great for your gut biome health.

So, there you go. I dare ya to give it a try. I get it, it’s an interesting combination of ingredients, but this thing packs a lot of health benefits and is low calorie and high protein. We eat these every day after working out.

Wow, that is adventurous. The raw garlic would do me in for sure, lol.

It’s actually not that bad…you can taste it, but it’s good!
