When I thought about food in Creston I only knew about the Loading Chute. We’ve been there several times and always enjoyed it. That said, I recently saw someone on Facebook mention a spot called Longbranch Saloon. So, as Annie and I like to do, we wanted to check out the new-to-us restaurant.
It’s exactly what you’d expect to see when you roll up to it. The front and inside are very rustic as you will see from the photos below. The first thing that blew us away was the newly remodeled back patio. Again, check the photos below. I would describe it as a more modern, up-to-date Pozo Saloon. If you aren’t familiar with Pozo Saloon, our apologies, you’re really missing out. It’s a great spot east of Santa Margarita, CA.
Longbranch has a great stage set up for live music, tons of seating, a little grassy area, a garden which they use in the kitchen, and for the skaters out there…a half pipe. I know, not something you’d expect to see at a place like this but apparently the little kids climb all over it and use it as a slide.
Let’s get to the food. We ordered the artichoke, a cheeseburger with bacon and avocado, and the fish tacos. The food was very good. Chef Pandee Pearson and her crew did a great job. Annie and I were fortunate enough to chat with her for a while and we learned a lot about the place. Apparently, there are plans in the works to make it a full bar, as of now it’s beer and wine, which is fine by us.
The size of the back area along with the fact that they plan to do regular live music is what reminded me so much of Pozo Saloon. Annie and I think this will be our new favorite spot. Especially if you’re wanting something different from going to downtown Paso Robles. In fact, we didn’t think we’d stay as long as we did on this first visit but the back was so pleasant and quiet we hung out for some time.
There you have it, go check it out and let us know what you think. It doesn’t look like they have a website but you can check out their Yelp page. Cheers!
