We recently decided to get out in wine country like we used to. By that I mean, hit up several wineries over Paso Robles Harvest Wine Weekend. We used to go wine tasting every single weekend prior to having Sammy and we’d visit four to eight wineries per weekend. I know…crazy.
Since Sammy life has slowed a bit in regards to wine tasting specifically although we still get out a lot. That said, let’s get down to business. Calcareous is another winery that we haven’t visited in years so we put it on the list and made it happen. This is another Paso winery that has absolutely amazing views and a beautiful property. You can see a few photos in the slideshow below.
The tasting room itself is large but we weren’t in there much at all. We chose a table out on the grass to enjoy the views. They have a ton of seating, a bocce ball court, and plenty of grass to play on (Sammy and I tossed his little football around).
Here’s what we tasted:
2016 Calcareous Grenache Blanc $34.00
2016 Calcareous Grenache $50.00
2016 Calcareous Tres Violet $56.00
2015 Calcareous Estate Cabernet Sauvignon $50.00
2016 Calcareous Zinfandel $45.00
I’m not a wine critic…who am I kidding, we’re all critics on some level. The wines were nice. We enjoyed the Grenache Blanc, Grenache, and Cab the most I’d say but the lineup was well worth the visit. And those views, stunning and peaceful. It really is a nice spot to just sit back and relax. Thank you to Erin for chatting with us and for the hospitality from the staff. Good times in wine country.
