If you haven’t heard of Tyler Russell you must not be into wine. He’s one of the amazing Paso winemakers that’s producing some of the best wines in the area. We’ve known him for quite some time, probably going back to his days working at Zenaida Cellars. He’s a super laid-back cat who digs vinyl, hanging with his family, and making premium wines.
You can read more about the specifics of Nelle and Cordant at the website, it’s a pretty interesting story. Link here.
Here’s what we tasted:
2017 Nelle Paso Robles Pinwheel (70% Grenache Blanc 15% Viognier 15% Roussanne) $34.00
2015 Cordant Central Coast Pinot Noir $44.00
2015 Cordant Kessler Haak Vineyards Pinot Noir $50.00
2015 Nelle Paso Robles Maniacal (50% Grenache 35% Syrah 15% Mourvedre) $38.00
2015 Nelle California Syrah $38.00
I’m not even going to say anything in depth here. The wines are amazing, seriously. Be sure to check them out right off Ramada Drive before you go down into Tin City. There’s typically records playing and you’ll enjoy the tasting with either Tyler himself or the great Amber Bierwirth. It’s been awesome watching Tyler’s progression over the years and we look forward to seeing what’s to come. Cheers!
And yes, Sammy was flossing (a new hip dance craze that I’m pretty damn terrific at too) in the video below at Nelle.
