Matt: We are living in some crazy times with this coronavirus/ COVID-19 thing. How are you hanging in there personally?
Frank: It definitely has been an interesting time as we navigate this world wide pandemic. We are taking it day by day and growler sell by growler sell. We are focused on staying positive and we are staying conscious of the amount of news we take in daily. It is easy to get lost in the unknown but we are fortunate that we have a very supportive community. It has never been more obvious that our focus is beyond beer. Now the focus has shifted how to help those in need. Historically, pubs have been a place for the community and we have not lost focus of that fact and are eager to try to meet the communities needs.
Matt: How have your businesses been hit by these recent issues?
Frank: We have been hit with the unknown. It is hard to make a plan when the target is constantly moving. We are constantly re-calibrating and reengaging. It is a day by day effort.
Matt: What are you doing to try and mitigate the impact?
Frank: We are selling growlers and delivering beer at this time. We have personally reached out to our members to check on them and let them know we are still here to help. We have been blessed by the local support and the positive encouragement. We are working closely with our local guild and state brewers association to stay current on changes and future impacts. We have been setting/ adjusting short term goals and long term goals. It is a matter of resilience while not ignoring the impact this situation is having on our families, community, state, nation and world.
Matt: Are you providing any deals, specials, or other services during this time?
Frank: We have lowered our growler prices, have started to go cups, and we are offering “early bird” specials on member sign ups. We are also delivering beer to patrons and are navigating canning to get our beer out to the community.
Matt: Do you have a message to your regular customers or to customers in general?
Frank: Thank you for all your support and we hope you and your families are healthy and safe. We are here for you and if we can do anything to help please do not hesitate to reach out. We truly are in this together.
Matt: Any advice to other small business owners?
Frank: Hang in there. Lets work together to get back to being the strong and healthy community which we have been known for. Cheers.
Matt: Anything else you want to bring up and discuss?
Frank: We will get through this and there will be a cold beer waiting for you. Please continue to support local and make sure you are taking care of yourself, family and neighbors.
