If you’re a local, you know. At the intersection of Golden Hill Rd and Union Rd. they, are putting in a roundabout. Therefore, that intersection is currently closed. If you’re trying to get to Golden Hill Rd northbound or Union Rd., we now must use Ardmore Rd.
Now, to the point of this post. If you are going northbound or southbound on Golden Hill Rd., there are two stop signs. If you are leaving Ardmore Rd. to turn and head south on Golden Hill Rd. or leaving Golden Hill Rd. heading north to go east on Ardmore Rd., there are yield signs. I use this area daily, more than I want to and have seen some confusion in how to handle this.
I felt I already understood how to maneuver through this intersection but just to be sure I talked to the city and to the police department. They confirmed my suspicions.
The two stop signs MUST stop until it is clear to proceed. The two yield signs DO NOT stop, they simply need to slow down through the intersection but continue through. I hope this helps because it has been seriously frustrating to have to stop and wait for people that think they need to stop at the yield signs. Please, we have to deal with this for another 8 to 12 months, or something like that. So, please pass this info along to people that are using this intersection.
