Sammy’s First Birthday

Hard to believe Sammyâ??s first year has come and gone, itâ??s a milestone that seemed like an eternity away yet it showed up so quickly. Itâ??s been quite the journey for Annie and I; from miscarriage to Sammyâ??s first birthday this past Saturday (October 12).

Iâ??d like to first say that the party we had on Saturday for Sammyâ??s birthday went awesome, I wouldnâ??t change a thing. To our family that was there physically or there in spirit because they could not make it, thank you. To our friends that were there, you truly restore my faith in humanity. I could hope for nothing more than to fill our home with love and laughter on Sammyâ??s birthdayâ?¦you all provided that.

To Sammyâ?¦I really donâ??t know what to tell you. I say it endlessly, but the number of people (family, friends, and people that know you but have never met you in person) that follow your life and care about you is remarkable. I have never seen anything like it and am constantly amazed how your small but strong spirit has the ability to bring people together. This first year with you has been amazingâ?¦in good and bad ways if I need to be honestâ?¦but it has been nothing but a privilege to be part of your life and watch you grow. I love you and thank you.

Annieâ?¦as I said earlier, quite the journey. There is absolutely no way I could imagine going through these ups and downs, the good and bad, the amazing and not so amazingâ?¦with anyone but you. This may all be stupid or corny but I think Sammy hit one year old is kind of a big deal. Itâ??s kind of like graduating from one grade to the next in a way. I feel like we payday loans online no fax have succeeded but I feel there is more to learn. Most of all, I feel like there will be many more awe inspiring moments for us as we watch this little dude grow.

Now back to the partyâ?¦as youâ??ll see in the photos below, it was a great day. There was wine and beer flowing and great food. I need to thank my brother-in-law (Mark) for manning the grill for the roughly 30 people that were there. I also need to thank our amazing friend J-Dog for the flying howler monkeys she got almost a year ago which provided the most epic flying monkey war in the backyard. I donâ??t even think we have photos of that but it lasted about an hour and was one of the funniest things Iâ??ve seen.

I want to individually thank everyone that showed up and brought gifts (for us and for Sammy) and I will do that soon, but for nowâ?¦thank you again you guys. As I stated above, watching our amazing group of family and friends interact and be there for Sammy on his first birthday was sincerely heart-warming and restores my faith in humanity. If I could bottle that up and sell it, I would be a billionaire. You are awesome!!

I guess thatâ??s it for now. Sammy is now over one year old and we go for his one year check up sometime soon so we will update you with that when we do. We are now looking forward to the upcoming Holidays to see how Sammy reacts. Last year during the Holidays he was super unimpressed due to only being a couple of months old so this year should be pretty fun.
