So damn bad it hurts? Well, first we would have to be on the same page on the definition of success. There is financial success, which to me includes money and your career; then you have personal success which could include relationships with a significant other, family, and friends but would also include any personal successes like community involvement, etc.
We are all well aware of just how many gurus and experts are out there now touting how they can help you achieve, succeed, get rich, work from home, work four hours a week and make six figures, and so on. My personal opinion is that a huge percentage of these folks are a complete crock, it seems more like they’re selling used cars. The reason I say all this is because lazy does NOT lead to success. Success, in any definition takes: perseverance, devotion, being relentless, being helpful, staying positive, being focused, and working VERY hard.
Now you may ask, “Are you successful Matt?” or “What do you know about it and why should we listen?”. Well, the great thing is you don’t have to listen. Anything that I pass on to you though, is coming directly from two places; my own life experience (learning from life’s failures and successes) or from people that I genuinely and sincerely respect for one reason or another. To answer that first question though, yes, I am successful. Why? How? Because I am in a very happy marriage and we have an unbelievable group of family and friends, as well as being active in our community. We don’t have a million dollars in the bank but business has been great, especially the more I/ we learn and we know future success is up to us and our devotion to it.
Some of the keys to success are one’s you have heard time and time again. The problem has been that you have not 100%, completely implemented them in to your life…consistently!! Success does not come after working really, really hard for a few weeks or maybe not even for a few years. Success is a way of life, a state of mind; a habit. In the next post I will cover a little bit more about my experience so you understand where I come from and then share the things I have done and continue to do in order to stay on this path. The things you need to do are easy, it’s having the strength to continue doing them over and over and over and over…forever; but again, how bad do you want it? Stay tuned.
