If you’ve been checking out our wine blog at all recently ( http://www.hootnannieblog.com ) you will have seen that we (my wife and I) have been on a bit of a “life adventure”, which is part of why I have been absent from this blog for almost two full weeks.
This life adventure has involved numerous activities, one of which has been downsizing, and in terms of downsizing I am referring to almost any way a human can downsize. My goal was to have less knick knacks, less furniture, and less square footage.
When my wife and I first met I was living in a 3600 square foot house with a 1500 square foot shop, from there we moved into a 1700 square foot house, and most recently into a roughly 1000 square foot place. Along this journey we have steadily parted ways with trinkets, furniture, old clothes, and boxes of crap that we honestly have no idea how we acquired.
Other changes have included the fact that the house I was in when we met was on ten acres in the country, the second house mentioned above was about two minutes drive time from downtown Paso Robles, and now this place we are in is about five minutes walking distance to town; this place would actually be considered living in downtown Paso Robles. So from country to downtown has been awesome in some ways and not so awesome in other ways but all well worth it in the end.
In yet another part of this new life adventure the idea has been to address our mental and emotional views on life with the ultimate goal of having more understanding, knowledge, and a better ability to prioritize our world and the world around us. Taking the time and actually doing the work toward living a life of fulfillment has become a pretty big priority for us.
As I stated above, some of these things have been amazing and easy, while other aspects have been damn near difficult…especially for someone like me with self-diagnosed A.D.D. and O.C.D., but we march forward (to the beat of a different drummer) in the never ending quest to learn who we are and how best live our lives.
Cheers folks, and happy adventuring!!

Yay! You blogged! Only kidding. I knew what you & Ms. Annie were doing and since I read the wine blog…well, all was right with the world. My world is a happier place too back here in the Midwest.

LOL…nice Cheri!! I miss writing when I don’t do it, it’s a great way to empty the mental suitcase (kind of like downsizing your garage, but it’s your brain). Cheers to you and many thanks for all the support!!

I love you guys and wish you the absolute best on your adventure. Joy and awakening, that’s what you are experiencing. From one OCD to another, hugs!

You rock Sandra!! I (we) REALLY appreciate that! And I love the OCD part…LOL!!

Ahhhhhh – I didn’t know the backstory with some of Annie’s interest in my drawer organizing! Downtown is LOVELY – a walking lifestyle is a peaceful lifestyle, eh? And yes – consider, reconsider, remember how we want to live – aligning our time and energy with our values – I’m a fast forgetter – so this is an ongoing process for me. Kudos to you!

Kris…there’s always a back story, LOL. For me life is this experiment, there is no one correct way of living it. I think the goal is to constantly learn and push yourself, and one of the things I realized about myself is that “stuff” bogs me down…it is the equivalent to mental or emotional baggage for a personality like mine.
We absolutely love walking all over, it’s been awesome thus far!! Cheers Kris!!
