California Women for Agriculture San Luis Obispo County Chapter Hosts Seventh Annual Burgers & Brews Festival and Competition Sunday, September 4 in Creston
August 25, 2016 (San Luis Obispo County, CA) — The California Women for Agriculture (CWA) San Luis Obispo County chapter announces the seventh annual Burgers & Brews Festival and Competition set for Sunday, September 4 at the Loading Chute in Creston. As the largest fundraiser for the organization’s youth scholarship program, this unique lifestyle event features the best of locally raised meats and handcrafted brews in a walk around tasting format from 5-9 pm.
The event introduces San Luis Obispo County foodies to a variety of locally grown meat producers and Central Coast brews. The historical barn setting at The Loading Chute creates a family ranch-style atmosphere for locals and visitors alike to try traditional and new burger recipes while meeting the farmers, ranchers and brew masters. The pairing nature of the event allows guests to enjoy traditional and new burger recipes paired with a selection of Central Coast micro-brews while listening to the tunes of Monte Mills and the Lucky Horseshoe Band.
“Come hungry and be ready to discover the bounty of San Luis Obispo County,” said Lynette Sonne & Jennifer Tallent, event co-chairs. “We are proud to feature our local agriculture producers while raising funds for local youth. It’s a great afternoon to come together to support our mission of preserving and protecting agriculture and agri-tourism in San Luis Obispo County.”
The market lamb CWA purchased at the annual Junior Livestock Auction during the Mid-State Fair will be a portion of the product served during the event, which is yet another way, CWA supports its 21 youth scholarship winners awarded earlier this year.
Food and beer stations will be positioned around the barnyard allowing guests to walk-around, mingle and discover unique flavors. Recipes and information on how to purchase the product will be available at each booth. Don’t miss the root beer floats to temp your sweet tooth.
