Paso Robles Wine Festival Weekend

May 25, 2016 matt 2 Comments

We’ve been to Wine Festival in the park many times in Paso Robles but have taken the last few years off. Instead we started a tradition of going downtown around 10:00 am-ish to watch the final rush to get things ready and then go over to Pappy McGregor’s across the street to watch from the sidelines.

Over lunch and a cocktail we watch the park start to fill up along with all the interesting characters milling about outside the fences. It’s pretty entertaining. In previous years we would sit there until the crowds would leave the event as it drew to a close and watch them stumble around…some even falling.

So that’s what we did Saturday afternoon for Wine Festival. That evening our good friend Megan watched Sammy so we could go to the Pomar Junction Winemaker Dinner. The dinner and wine pairings were amazing. You can see photos of the food and menu in the slideshow below. We really enjoyed the people as well, very fun evening.

On Sunday of Wine Festival Weekend we met some out-of-town friends (Pat, Steve, Janet, Jeff) at Barrelhouse Brewing (in Tin City) for what else…a beer. Once we felt properly hydrated we went right down the road to Lefondusac for a little wine and the amazing street tacos created by Chef Chris Beckett from Fish Gaucho. I had a chicken taco and a pulled pork…both were terrific! Actually making me hungry now.

So that’s that. Another fun-filled Paso Robles weekend. It’s astonishing how much is going on in this “little” town. So much to do and so little time. I guess that’s a good problem to have.

Seems like a smaller version of Austin’s Food and Wine Festival. Sounds like a good time.

Ali, not been to Austin’s event but I am sure this event here in Paso Robles is much smaller. I guess I need to try and make it to Austin’s event some time.
