Well, how to get what you want as far as wine goes, anyway!\u00a0 We can’t be responsible for the rest of your life, but we can weigh in on the wine stuff.\u00a0 So, how do you go about getting what you want and what you like into your glass?\u00a0 That’s a great question, and it all starts with you knowing what you want in the first place.\u00a0 Is it a hot summer day and a chilled glass of Rose sounds like it’ll do the trick?\u00a0 Or have you been dreaming of a rich, dark glass of something red?<\/p>\n

The next step in this process is to know that there is no right or wrong answer; it’s all about YOU and what your taste buds are telling you.\u00a0 Don’t worry about what you should or shouldn’t be drinking, after all, who’s smarter than you are about what you put in your mouth?\u00a0 You might be in the mood for something specific one day and something totally different the next…that’s what makes drinking so fun!<\/p>\n

Moving right along, get out there and taste things!!!\u00a0 That’s the only way you’re going to figure out what you like and don’t like in certain wines.\u00a0 Hoot’s a huge Pinot Noir addict while Annie goes for the grungy Rhones when drinking a red.\u00a0 Talk to people in the tasting room, invite friends over to do a blind tasting, open that bottle of wine that’s been sitting in the back of the rack forever and taste it!\u00a0 Write down notes if you feel like it or take pictures; whatever will help you key in on the characteristics that you like.\u00a0 You’ll notice that we don’t critique wine, but when we do talk about specifics it’s because we’ve taken notes while tasting and bring them home with us to write down here.<\/p>\n

Now, you’re forming an opinion, you’re making some decisions and you’re standing up for YOUR wine repertoire! \u00a0You’re doing good! \u00a0Be sure to take some time to learn a little bit about wine descriptors and qualities so that when you’re out in the big world you can articulate what you want to your bar, wins shop, or tasting room tender.\u00a0 If you can’t voice what you want, chances are you won’t get it!\u00a0 This doesn’t mean to go out and get your degree in wine-snobbery, it just means to gather enough info to be able to talk about what you like and why.\u00a0 Plus, you like this wine stuff, right?\u00a0 Why not educate yourself here and there, after all the homework is kind of fun!<\/p>\n
