WOW!!!\u00a0 Okay, we’ll start this one off by saying that we’ve had to make a conscious decision to get\u00a0 more into Rose.\u00a0 Somewhere along the line, Rose got a bad wrap…could it be the Strawberry Hill and White Zin out of a box that was so popular back in the day?\u00a0\u00a0Here in the Paso Robles area there are several Roses that are incredible, whether they’re made from Syrah, Pinot Noir, or any other red, it’s an interesting and wonderful wine to learn to love.\u00a0 What they do is let the wine sit on the red skins for a short time and then pull it off, which results in a beautiful pink wine that often has strawberry, melon, and cotton candy aromas.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Well, this Carol Shelton 2008 Rose is made from 100% Carignane grapes, which is a Rhone varietal not found much around here.\u00a0 http:\/\/www.carolshelton.com\/<\/a>.\u00a0 We’ve seen it used as a blending grape in red Rhone blends and have had the great opportunity to try some 100% Carignane reds, which is a treat!\u00a0 So when we came across this little gem at the Avila Wine and Roasters we had to try it.\u00a0 The way Karen described it to us was “Strawberry and watermelon on the nose\u00a0with a baked bread finish”.\u00a0 Now, who could pass up a $15 bottle of Rose with a description like that???\u00a0 We loved it!!!<\/p>\n
