We headed to Brian Benson Cellars, http:\/\/www.brianbensoncellars.com\/<\/a> located in the Templeton Gap area on the 46 West side of Paso Robles. \u00a0We’ve heard great things about this place…and finally made it to the tasting room. \u00a0Brian is a young guy that’s been in the wine industry for a long time. \u00a0His parents have Dark Star – http:\/\/www.darkstarcellars.com\/<\/a>. \u00a0Brian’s focus is on making intense and unique wines, and does it all himself.<\/p>\n

Annie says: \u00a0This place was a pretty cool joint. \u00a0I liked the style of the tasting room and the custom funky labels that Brian had. \u00a0He was in there pouring for us and we had a good time chatting with him. \u00a0Seems like a really interesting guy with a lot of knowledge in the wine industry, even for seeming so young. \u00a0(Sorry man, not calling you a kid, but you look young and that’s a good thing) Anyhoo, we bought a bottle of his Zinfandel, we really liked it, mostly because it was so unique. \u00a0Not fruity and jammy or peppery like most Zins, this one was kind of smoky and full tasting. \u00a0I could picture having a big old grilled steak with a healthy glass of Brian’s Zin. \u00a0Yum!<\/p>\n

Hoot says: Definitely a cool joint, funky and all that. Brian’s a cool guy, easy to talk to. He got in to the biz because his parents are in in, they own Dark Star Cellars, which is adjacent to his tasting room. I thought the Zin was awesome, most unique I’ve had thus far.
