The below post is about one of those awesome moments last year at Earth Day Food and Wine Festival <\/a>and we wanted to share it again now that we are approaching the 2012 festival. This event stands out to us because of its emphasis on sustainability in farming related to wine and food. To top it off, the group that puts this event on (Central Coast Vineyard Team <\/a>which runs the SIP certification program<\/a>) is truly one of the best teams of people assembled around such a worthy purpose.<\/p>\n

This will be our third year in a row attending and we look forward to seeing how it all comes together. If you are at all in to wine, food, or the cause of sustainability in farming we recommend that you check out their website<\/a> and if you\u2019re going to be in the area at the time of this event (April 20-22, 2012)\u2026come join us and sip on some SIP Certified wines!<\/p>\n

Meet our Uncle Murray at Earth Day Food and Wine Festival 2011<\/h3>\n

We had an awesome opportunity to interview Jim and Kathleen Tigan of\u00a0Tactical Avian Predators<\/a>\u00a0at the\u00a0Earth Day Food & Wine Festival<\/a>. As we were walking through the crowd we noticed this majestic hawk (found out it was a Harris Hawk named Uncle Murray) on Kathleen\u2019s arm so we had to go check it out.<\/p>\n

As we were chatting with them we asked if they’d be willing to do an interview, and they graciously agreed. You\u2019ve got to check this out, it’s such a cool concept. They do environmentally safe pest control using trained hawks and falcons for vineyards.<\/p>\n

And as you can see, Kathleen threw a glove on Hoot and he got to hold Uncle Murray\u2026WOW, Hoot got a hoot out of that!!<\/p>\n
