A couple of weeks back I had some work to take care of in the Monterey area so Annie and I decided to make it our first road trip with Sammy to test him (but mostly test us) on how he would do on a 2 hour and 15 minute drive as well as two nights away from home in a hotel. It was also our last little trip prior to Annie going back to work full time.<\/p>\n

Sammy did awesome on the drive to and from Monterey as well as in the hotel and overnight. We couldn\u2019t have asked for anything better. Annie and Sammy even went on my three business appointments with me and again, he did fantastic. I think we were more afflicted by the trip than he was. It being our first trip like that with a baby I think we just had moments of nervousness on how he would do but he quickly put us at ease\u2026imagine that, the little dude put us at ease.<\/p>\n

All that being said it was a great trip. The weather was slightly chilly but it was sunny and beautiful. We decided to splurge a little bit and stay at the InterContinental<\/a> (The Clement Monterey) in a full ocean view room. Our thought was that we would be spending a little more time in the room rather than going out like we normally would so we really wanted a room to enjoy.<\/p>\n

The hotel was great. They have many aspects of customer service from the front desk, to the valet, the restaurant and bar, as well as the rest of the staff that delivers room service, cleans, and helps people with their luggage. We thought everyone did a fantastic job and will definitely stay there again.<\/p>\n

The room was awesome and had most every amenity you would want except if you wanted any refrigerator or freezer space. Nowadays most people travel with wine, beer, or snacks and having a place to refrigerate things (or freeze) would be nice. They have a mini bar refrigerator but it was stocked full. We ended up removing a few items so we could fit a few of Sammy\u2019s formula bottles in there but even than we noticed that the refrigerator wasn\u2019t really very cold. First world problems I know, but it\u2019s the little things like that that we notice\u2026especially when traveling with a baby. They did however have cribs to loan people with babies, which meant we did not have to bring ours along, so that was great.<\/p>\n

The C Restaurant and Bar<\/a> is awesome. We have been there a couple times before and had to go back because it was not only convenient but has a great menu as well as first class view. We tried many appetizers there (as well as wine and beer because that\u2019s what we do) and were not disappointed in anything. They were having a beer tap issue while we were there but they had wine and bottled beer (hard alcohol too).<\/p>\n

All in all it was a great little getaway. For those of us that live in the Paso Robles area, Monterey is a great road trip destination. On our list for future road trips with Sammy are Solvang, San Francisco, and possibly Santa Barbara. It would also be nice to test him on a plane this year but we\u2019ll see how that goes.<\/p>\n
