This was the first time the San Miguel Mission opened it’s garden for a public event, and it was a success!\u00a0 They had 25 or more wineries, 15 food vendors, artist booths, live music and crafts all there for public consumption.\u00a0 The proceeds from the event will go to helping the Mission restoration effort needed after the earthquake that happened in 2003.<\/p>\n
Hoot ‘n Annie got to pour for two local wineries, and we had a ball!\u00a0 We poured for Caparone, a well-established winery that’s been around for over 30 years producing unique Italian varietals as well as some of the more mainstream reds.\u00a0 We also poured for Tassajara winery, a newer winery started by the winemaker from recently-closed Martin & Weyrich winery who focuses on Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and some nice Rhone blends.<\/p>\n
While the day was a scorcher – well over 100 degrees, the festival goers as well as the local friars, had a good time sampling the wines and tasting the foods while meandering around the beautiful grounds.\u00a0 We got to spend some time wandering and mingling and tasting the wares.\u00a0 This was a great event for a great cause that we hope stays around for years to come…Viva Wine Experiencia!!!<\/p>\n
