As you know from recent posts on here, J Dusi Wines<\/a> just opened up their first tasting room this past Friday (8-30-13) right here in Paso Robles. We went out there on Saturday to taste through Janell\u2019s wines\u2026which was our first time doing so since she had not previously had a tasting room, although we had her wine here and there at events.<\/span>We tasted through five wines:<\/span>2012 Fossil Creek Vineyard Pinot Grigio<\/span><\/p>\n

La Casita Syrah (blend of 2008 and 2009 vintages)<\/span><\/p>\n

2010 Caterina\u2019s Vineyard Syrah<\/span><\/p>\n

2011 Dante Dusi Vineyard Zinfandel<\/span><\/p>\n

2009 Fiorento (50% Zinfandel, 25% Syrah, 25% Carignane)<\/span><\/p>\n

All great wines, I don\u2019t think you\u2019ll be disappointed at all. Janell also has a long list of wines on the back of the tasting menu that are for sale but not to taste in the tasting room. This list includes a Carignane that we picked up because it\u2019s still such an interesting variety to us.<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m not going to talk anymore about the wine, it really is fantastic and you know that. If you don\u2019t know that yet, then get your butt over to the new tasting room so you can agree with me.<\/span><\/p>\n

Oh ya, the new tasting room. It\u2019s on 46 West across the highway from Summerwood Winery<\/a>. The location is great and Janell and her crew (meaning family, friends, and crew) have been doing a lot to make the place their own. They tore down the house that you used to have to drive by to get to the tasting room and added a nice new gate at the front. They also did some road and parking lot upgrades as well as a little bit of painting (my painting company did that). I\u2019m sure they did a bunch of other stuff but I was blinded by the wine and can’t remember it all.<\/span><\/p>\n

So the wines are amazing and the tasting room and patio are pretty damn awesome\u2026they have a lot going for them but that\u2019s not it. They also have some serious family history going on here in the Paso Robles area and to top it all off Janell and her mom are super cool people. I\u2019m sure the other family members are too but I haven\u2019t met them, therefore can\u2019t comment.<\/span><\/p>\n

When all the above things align the outcome is magic. These are the things that make you want to support what they\u2019re doing and that my friends, is Paso Robles. There are many stories like this in the area and it\u2019s one of the pleasures we have of living here\u2026being able to enjoy the down to Earth folks that put their heart and soul into the farming, into the winemaking, and into telling their story.<\/span><\/p>\n
