Sometimes in life you just need to get away for a night\u2026especially when you have a 13 month old kid. All the stars aligned and we ended up being able to spend our first night away from Sammy recently. Due to the work I do for Broken Earth Winery<\/a> and their partnership with the Paso Robles Inn<\/a> we were able to stay in the Broken Earth wine themed room.<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m not sure how this idea came about but the fact that the Paso Robles Inn<\/a> started partnering with wineries (and a brewery) is obviously a fantastic idea and to do it in this unique way was even more brilliant in my mind. There are roughly 18 wineries that are part of this and they each get to go in and decorate their specific room, the patio or balcony on the room, and have a plaque put by the door outside the room. It\u2019s great for the Paso Inn to show support for the local wine community and great for the participating wineries as they get to \u201chost\u201d a room. A win-win scenario in my book. <\/span><\/p>\n

Before I get to the room I will say that partnerships (collaborations) are where it\u2019s at in business. I think local businesses should support other local businesses. More specifically, I think restaurants need to support other restaurants, I think wineries need to support other wineries, hotels need to support other hotels. Too often I see businesses reject this idea because they feel they are in \u201ccompetition\u201d with these other businesses but the truth is\u2026they are not. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Paso Robles Inn is not in competition with Hotel Cheval and they are not in competition with La Bellasera or the Hampton Inn & Suites. Each of these places offers something different and unique. If a business focuses on doing their job above and beyond expectation there should be no worry of competition. I think people worry about the idea of competition when they now damn well their product may be inferior\u2026so get your business right and get out there and support other local businesses\u2026even the ones that are in the same industry as you.<\/span><\/p>\n

Okay\u2026now back on track at the Paso Robles Inn<\/span><\/h3>\n

The Paso Robles Inn has been around for a very long time. Of course, in 1940 it burned down and was rebuilt by 1942\u2026here’s more on the history of the Inn<\/a><\/span>. I know they did some recent renovations as well, it\u2019s always nice to maintain these historic spots\u2026especially when they sit right on the downtown square. The room we were in, as I mentioned above, was the Broken Earth Winery<\/a> room. It was decorated well with photos from the winery and vineyards along with other items with the winery name on them.<\/span><\/p>\n

I just really like the idea of the Inn doing this because otherwise these rooms would be decorated as a typical hotel room, nothing wrong with typical but why not do something that stands out? This way you are bringing some real local flavor right into the room. Maybe someone ends up staying in the Broken Earth room and ends up wanting to visit that winery or maybe they go to one of the participating wineries and next time they\u2019re in town they want that particular room at the Inn; either way, kudos to the hotel and those participating in this unique marriage to show how bad ass Paso can be.<\/span><\/p>\n

I had never stayed at the Inn before and I thought customer service at check-in was great as well as in the diner area when we had breakfast the next day. The room is nice but if you\u2019re looking for brand new and super modern it may not be for you. Personally I thought the room was fantastic. The bathroom was huge and the patio had a tub (whirlpool\/ hot tub) on it. It was cool to because it was a first floor room they even had curtains on the patio to give yourself some privacy while in the tub. The best thing is that you are literally two seconds from being downtown with all the great restaurants, shops, and tasting rooms. <\/span><\/p>\n

In my mind, if you come to Paso Robles one of the great experiences is spending time downtown so Paso Inn would be the place to be. In the pics below you\u2019ll see the room we stayed in as well as the breakfast we had in the little diner area. The Inn has a restaurant but we did not eat in there, the coffee shop\/ diner area was awesome\u2026old school. The Inn also has a bar upstairs that has a patio, we\u2019ve been up there many times before. It\u2019s an awesome place to hang out while looking out over the downtown park.<\/span><\/p>\n

So there you go, great spot for sure. Check out the Paso inn for a room or for food\u2026all is good. Be sure to check out Broken Earth Winery<\/a> as well. Yes I do some work for them but that does not take away that they have a lot of wine to choose from, a beautiful facility, live music every Saturday, a new caf\u00e9 called Gusto \u2013 Gourmet Market and Caf\u00e9<\/a>, and a really cool event coming up on November 30th<\/sup>\u2026a Holiday Lighting<\/a> program which should be epic<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n
