{"id":3980,"date":"2013-12-09T10:48:52","date_gmt":"2013-12-09T18:48:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hootnannieblog.com\/?p=3980"},"modified":"2013-12-09T10:48:52","modified_gmt":"2013-12-09T18:48:52","slug":"paso-robles-dont-like-wine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.threeadventure.com\/hootnannie\/2013\/12\/09\/paso-robles-dont-like-wine\/","title":{"rendered":"Paso Robles: What If You Don\u2019t Like Wine?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I\u2019ve lived in Paso Robles or in the Paso Robles area for about ten years now and I\u2019ve only been into wine for six to seven of those years.<\/p>\n<p>So what can you do in Paso if you\u2019re not into wine?<\/p>\n<p>Surprisingly there is a lot going on in Paso Robles besides wine.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>~Beer- Paso Robles is home to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.firestonebeer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Firestone Walker Brewing<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.barrelhousebrewing.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">BarrelHouse Brewing<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/pasobrewing.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Paso Robles Brewing\/The Pour House<\/a>. All great places but currently I\u2019d say BarrelHouse is my favorite. There\u2019s more beer in the county but I\u2019m focusing on Paso specifically.<\/p>\n<p>~Art- We\u2019ve got <a href=\"http:\/\/www.studiosonthepark.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Studios on the Park<\/a> which is a great co-op art studio as well as several other little art studios right downtown. I may be wrong but from my perspective the founder of Studios on the Park, Anne Laddon, has really put art front and center in this community. I commend her for all the hard work.<\/p>\n<p>~Food- A lot has changed in ten years, there are tons of places to eat in Paso Robles. We have high end restaurant, pubs, casual spots, and the tasty hole in the wall spots. Some of these restaurants include: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artisanpasorobles.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Artisan<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.villacreek.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Villa Creek<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ilcortileristorante.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Il Cortile<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lacosechabr.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">La Cosecha<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bistrolaurent.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bistro Laurent<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.btslo.com\/paso.html\" target=\"_blank\">Buona Tavola<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Los-Robles-Cafe\/117603958255756\" target=\"_blank\">Los Robles Caf\u00e9<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pappymcgregors.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pappy McGregor\u2019s<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.odysseyworldcafe.com\/ordereze\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Odyssey World Caf\u00e9<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.menuclub.com\/californiarestaurantguide\/pasoroblesrestaurants\/berryhillbistro-1811.php\" target=\"_blank\">Berry Hill Bistro<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.downtownbrew.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Downtown Brew<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hootnannieblog.com\/2013\/11\/paso-robles-eats-second-press\/\" target=\"_blank\">Second Press<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hunterranchgolf.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Grill at Hunter Ranch Golf Course<\/a>, and so on. I know I did not include all of them\u2026but you get the idea.<\/p>\n<p>~Golf- We\u2019ve got <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hunterranchgolf.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hunter Ranch Golf Course<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pasoroblesgolfclub.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Paso Robles Golf Club<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.linksgolfcourseofpasorobles.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Links Golf Course<\/a>. I\u2019ve played at Hunter Ranch and at The Links but I\u2019ve also heard great things about the Paso Robles Golf Club recently. Hunter Ranch and the Golf Club have a restaurant as well. I\u2019m biased toward Hunter Ranch.<\/p>\n<p>~We\u2019ve got the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ewarbirds.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Estrella Warbird Museum<\/a> (which houses planes, cars, and more), the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pasoroblespioneermuseum.org\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Pioneer Museum<\/a> (history of Paso), the old library right in the downtown park, <a href=\"http:\/\/nacimientoresort.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Lake Nacimiento<\/a>, hiking trails, olive oil tasting, lavender events, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pasokids.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Children\u2019s Museum<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vinaroblesamphitheatre.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Amphitheatre at Vina Robles Winery<\/a>, hot air balloon tours, wild flower hunting during the right time of year, marathons, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.missionsanmiguel.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mission in San Miguel<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.prcity.com\/government\/departments\/recreation\/facilities\/bsp.asp\" target=\"_blank\">Barney Schwartz Park<\/a> (for a small city this park is amazing), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ravinewaterpark.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ravine Water Park<\/a>, the Paso Robles Event Center which is home to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.midstatefair.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mid State Fair<\/a> along with a ton of other events ranging from a cigar event to equestrian events, and on and on and on.<\/p>\n<p>So you don\u2019t like wine? You don\u2019t have to. I know I am missing a bunch of stuff so feel free to let me know if you\u2019d like but my overall point here is that Paso Robles works for everyone. If you\u2019re a dude that isn\u2019t into wine but your wife wants to come to Paso for the weekend to wine taste no worries\u2026there\u2019s plenty of other stuff to do.
