We had not been to Wild Coyote<\/a> in many years but recently decided to head over there to see our friend Sean and taste through the wines. If you haven\u2019t been out there before it\u2019s one of Paso\u2019s unique properties for many reasons: the southwestern style architecture, it\u2019s has a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom guest house vacation rental, as well as a B&B that includes five casitas. Not to mention that it\u2019s in one of Paso\u2019s most beautiful areas out on Adelaida Road.<\/p>\n

As I\u2019ve said about so many of the wineries in Paso, each one has its own unique thing to offer. It\u2019s almost mandatory nowadays to offer more than just wine and I think Wild Coyote certainly offers that with the B&B and vacation rental. The last time we were there Sean had shown us one of the casitas and we thought it was awesome. It would be a great place to go stay if we wanted a little staycation.<\/p>\n

The tasting room is much bigger now after a remodel they completed in the last year or so. It now has this large circle bar in the middle of the room which I\u2019m a fan of. Due to its circle shape it feels much more social when tasting. Rather than standing beside people you end up being able to look at people and carry on conversation with other tasters. It makes it feel like more of a party than a business transaction.<\/p>\n

2011 Zinfandel \u2013 El Sancho ($25.00)<\/p>\n

2010 Merlot \u2013 El Valiente ($25.00)<\/p>\n

2010 Syrah \u2013 El Jefe (25.00)<\/p>\n

2010 Blend \u2013 House of Reds \u2013 blend of Syrah, Merlot, & Zinfandel ($25.00)<\/p>\n

2011 Mourvedre \u2013 El Capo ($50.00)<\/p>\n

2011 Tempranillo \u2013 El Matador ($50.00)<\/p>\n

2011 Tannat \u2013 El Macho ($50.00)<\/p>\n

2011 Malbec \u2013 El Diablo ($50.00)<\/p>\n

2010 Zinfandel Port \u2013 Little Fawn ($45.00)<\/p>\n

I liked the wines overall\u2026the Merlot, Mourvedre, Tempranillo, and Tannat were probably my favorite I\u2019d say. I also enjoyed the winery itself, the tasting room is fun and they have cool merchandise for sale. The big windows in the tasting area are great (and open fully to allow the Paso breeze through) and of course, Sean is awesome. Our little bambino (Sammy) enjoyed it too\u2026plenty of places to crawl around and be mischievous.<\/p>\n
