Annie and I grabbed Sammy and decided to head over to the newly opened Derby Wine Estates<\/a> location on Riverside Ave. close to downtown Paso Robles. There old location was a small little spot on HWY 46 East and now they are in the huge, and now restored, Farmer\u2019s Alliance Building that is easily seen from HWY 101.<\/p>\n

The place is gorgeous. There is a ton of patio seating and it\u2019s broken up quite nicely. Some spots are a little more private, like the spot where the fire table is, and there is plenty of shade from all the umbrellas.<\/p>\n

Inside the tasting room it\u2019s simple, clean, and decorated well. It\u2019s a little misleading when you see how huge the building is from the outside, the tasting room itself isn\u2019t big at all but they also have a back room (looks like barrel room and storage) that they can have overflow tasters as well as using that great patio. Don\u2019t get me wrong though, the tasting room is quite comfortable.<\/p>\n

Our friend Jennifer that works there introduced us to Pam Derby (co-owner) so it was cool to chat with her for a bit. Sammy took a liking to Pam so she ended up carrying him around while they gave a small tour of the tasting room and back room. That back room is where the elevator is that will take you up in the tower to what will be a wine club member hang out. We\u2019re hoping to check that out at some point to see what the views are like.<\/p>\n

I think the Derby\u2019s did an amazing job on the renovation and I\u2019m am ecstatic that they saved the building for the city of Paso Robles to admire and enjoy. I\u2019m not going to talk about the wine on this post because if you know us at all you know we\u2019re big fans of the wines. So my advice is to go check out the new spot and get a glass of wine to enjoy on the patio. You won\u2019t be disappointed.<\/p>\n
