You have probably heard my talk about Earth Day Food and Wine Festival<\/a> before and guess what, it\u2019s that time of year again. This event, put on by The Vineyard Team<\/a>, is without question a premier Central Coast event. If you have never attended you are missing out on one of the best organized events that is jam packed with good times.<\/p>\n

There are many events out there that are simple or that try to throw all this \u201camazing\u201d at you but the truth is, the amazing is missing and instead it\u2019s kind of boring, cheap, and cheesy. If you\u2019re into boring, cheap, and cheesy keep going to those same old events. If you want an amazing atmosphere, remarkable people, a great cause, sustainably farmed wines that rock, insanely good food, and some killer music\u2026try Earth Day.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s talk about The Vineyard Team, they are the folks that bring us the SIP<\/a> (Sustainability in Practice) Certification along with this amazing event mentioned above. Their mission statement:<\/p>\n

The Vineyard Team will identify and promote the most environmentally safe, viticulturally and economically sustainable farming methods, while maintaining or improving quality and flavor of wine grapes. The Team will be a model for wine grape growers and will promote the public trust of stewardship for natural resources.<\/em><\/p>\n

They are an amazing group of people led by my friend, Kris Beal. I\u2019ve known of the group for about seven years and met Kris not long after. I would happily endorse or promote anything they are doing or working on because they are doing the work that needs to be done. Sustainability is not a buzzword\u2026it is indeed a lifestyle and they are spreading that message.<\/p>\n

Back to the event. The first year we attended it was at Santa Margarita Ranch and from there it moved to Pomar Junction Winery for a few years. Last year it was at Castoro Cellars which is where it will be again this year. If I\u2019m not mistaken this year will mark our 6th<\/sup> time attending. And no bullshit, they somehow find a way to make the event better each and every year.<\/p>\n

So here\u2019s the deal. You can support The Vineyard Team in many ways.<\/p>\n

1) Buy SIP Certified wines. You can find out who is SIP Certified by checking out the SIP website.<\/p>\n

2) Be sustainable in your own life. Buy less stuff. Waste less. Be as minimal as you can be.<\/p>\n

3) Go to Earth Day Food and Wine Festival<\/p>\n
