Sometimes it\u2019s hard to come up with something new to say. I have written about my experiences at Earth Day Food and Wine Festival<\/a> for five or more years now. One of the things I write about the event is that each year gets better and better. There are VERY few events that I can say this about in San Luis Obispo County\u2026but Earth Day is certainly one of them.<\/p>\n

Last year we took our then one and a half year old son but this year we decided to get a babysitter so we could actually focus on the event more. That said, I became distracted anyways. Why? Because Earth Day isn\u2019t really an event. It\u2019s large gathering of friends and acquaintances with similar thoughts and beliefs on sustainability and wanting to have fun. It\u2019s education and awareness, with a shot of good times.<\/p>\n

Therefore, you tend to not have the \u201cevent mentality\u201d. I got caught up in seeing wine industry folks and friends I haven\u2019t seen for a while and those that I see on a more regular basis. Yes, I simply got caught up in the cause and the fun being had for that cause. Another epic Earth Day put on by Kris Beal, Executive Director of the Vineyard Team<\/a>, her staff and the many volunteers.<\/p>\n

Like last year, it was held at Castoro Cellars in Paso Robles. And like last year there was an extremely impressive list of vendors<\/a>: wineries, catering services, restaurants, breweries, honey, companies promoting green and sustainable services, farms, olive oil, and much more. Oh\u2026and TESLA Motors<\/a>. Awesome. As if all that wasn\u2019t enough\u2026they got Proxima Parada<\/a> to perform live. If you haven\u2019t heard them\u2026get on it!<\/p>\n

I really enjoyed the set-up this year as well. It was really comfortable and easy to navigate. They always seem to be able to do such a great job organizing these things. If I had to organize the event I wouldn\u2019t have the first clue\u2026which is why I don\u2019t organize events. Might as well leave it to the experts.<\/p>\n

There you have it. Another Earth Day in the books and thank you to Kris Beal, the Vineyard Team, all the volunteers, and of course all the vendors. One thing we truly need to remember, Earth Day is not one day a year. The Vineyard Team<\/a> knows this and that is why they spend the entire year spreading the message of sustainability through their SIP Certification<\/a>. Not only do I strongly urge you to learn more about what they are doing but I recommend you doing more in your own life that encourages sustainability.<\/p>\n

I think I will come out with an article soon about ways to be more \u201cgreen\u201d at home and now I\u2019m wondering about doing a Q&A with Kris Beal to help teach all of us the importance of it. Thanks again\u2026and cheers!\n\n
