This was our first trip to Boston and I really didn\u2019t go with any expectation of how it should be. I\u2019ve come home to Paso Robles as a big fan of that city. Depending on what area of Boston I went through, it reminded me of a cross between San Francisco and something European\u2026possibly Paris-esque. There is an insane amount of history there that is impossible to absorb on one 5-day trip.<\/p>\n
We visited spots like the Old State House<\/a> where the Declaration of Independence was first read, the Charlestown Navy Yard<\/a> where the USS Constitution (Old Ironsides) is located, Fenway Park<\/a> (oldest ballpark in baseball), and spots like Boston Common<\/a> and the Public Gardens<\/a> which are beautiful.<\/p>\n As a lover of history and stories it really was surreal walking around some of these places. If only the uneven brick and cobblestone sidewalks could talk, know what I mean? Whether you go to the Back Bay neighborhood or Downtown, Chinatown, Charlestown, or North End\u2026so many stories and all so different.<\/p>\n One stop that was especially poignant was the finish line to the Boston Marathon. It\u2019s recent. Fresh in our minds. To top it off the surviving culprit just got sentenced. It was surreal to be there and think back to the events unfolding on television.<\/p>\n I understand better why \u2018Boston Strong\u2019 is a thing.<\/p>\n A truly amazing city for so many reasons. We were stoked to get some time away from Sammy. We were thrilled to see our good friend Sean over the course of the week. It was exciting to explore and walk all over this historic area. And when I say we walked all over I have proof. From Tuesday<\/span> to Friday<\/span> I walked 28.5 miles in Boston\u2026and I loved every minute of it.<\/p>\n Below you will find a list of the places we went to either drink, eat and drink, or\u2026well\u2026what else is there? I really enjoyed each place for different reasons. I\u2019d eagerly go back to any on this list. The best clam chowder I have ever had is at Yankee Lobster on the list below. Boston is not lacking great food\u2026or great bars.<\/p>\n Based on some suggestions from Sean and another friend, Frederick, we avoided the \u201ctourist traps\u201d like \u2018Cheers\u2019.
